Pry bars lift, separate, pull nails and demolish: a curved claw at one end for nails, a flat chisel at the other for levering, commonly 300–1200 mm long. They are forged from carbon or chromium-vanadium steel and through-hardened. Check whether the claw is slotted (so it can grip a nail head and pull it), whether the flat end is thin enough to enter a joint, and whether the handle is textured or sleeved. This is the first tool for breaking down pallets, formwork and flooring.
