Cable cutters sever copper and aluminium power cable by using a ratchet to multiply hand force and take the cut in stages; typical capacity is copper up to 240 mm2. Blades are chromium-molybdenum steel, through-hardened, and are meant for copper and aluminium only — never steel core or wire rope, which will chip the edge. Check whether it is ratcheted (without one, large sections simply will not cut), whether the head is replaceable, and whether the handles are insulated if you work live.
